skitch gum packaging
This was a class project where we were tasked with designing a multi-use gum package. I began looking into existing gum branding styles and ways gum can be packaged. I then created a user persona based around a college student who wishes she had a travel sketchpad that she could fit in a pocket to take on hikes.

I created a mood board of my user’s needs which included the ability to sketch, and wanting something travel-sized she could fit in her pocket.
I also made a board for my design inspiration which would revolve around doodling, sketching, and note-taking. I also liked the idea of having drawing prompts on the gum wrappers.

I began concepting different gum packaging shapes and sizes as well as styles that would be big enough to draw on, but small enough to fit in a pocket. By deconstructing existing gum packages, I was able to create a net layout that was similar to the size of a pack of Extra gum, but was slightly slimmer and featured an additional flap where a small sketchpad would be attached.

Next, I came up with a name and fleshed out what I wanted the branding to look like. After some refinement, I had print-ready deliverables for primary and secondary packaging.
