westport plaza planters & benches
In 2023, SWT Design approached Anova Furnishings with the opportunity to create some custom planters and benches for the revamped outdoor space at Westport Plaza. These charcoal and silver planters would be be featured around the perimeter of their courtyard and would feature trees and shrubs. Joined to the planters would be our Connect benches which would provide patrons with additional seating for breaks, lunches, and catching a live music show.
The customization of the planters did not stop at the shape. The planters were intended to have inset lights on the sides and the benches would feature a recessed toe kick with a front valance where an LED light strip could be mounted, making the toe kicks backlit. The benches also featured power outlets which would allow users the ability to charge their phones while relaxing.
Through the design process, I worked with the design team to manipulate existing Solidworks models to feature the cutouts and modified toe kicks and the production team to troubleshoot challenges along the way. After months of collaboration, The planters and benches were installed and can currently be seen in the Westport Plaza courtyard.
